Privacy Policy

Pebbyls is built around a simple idea: your notebook should feel private. This policy explains what information Pebbyls handles, why it is used, which service providers help operate the site, and the choices available to you.

Local-first by design. You can write without an account. In that mode, your writing stays in browser storage on that device. Creating or signing in to an account turns on the cloud features included with your plan.

1. Information we handle

Information you provide

Account information: email address, display name, account preferences, and authentication information handled by our authentication provider.
Your content: notes, journal entries, quotes, categories, tags, cover selections, personalization settings, and images you choose to add.
Billing information: subscription status, plan, Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, transaction status, and related billing metadata. Pebbyls does not receive or store your full card number.
Support information: messages and details you choose to send when asking for help.

Information collected automatically

Our hosting, database, authentication, security, analytics, and payment providers may process technical information such as IP address, device and browser type, request time, referring page, general usage events, and security logs. This information is used to deliver, secure, maintain, and improve Pebbyls.

2. Local mode and cloud accounts

Without an account, notes and settings are stored in your browser on the current device and are not intentionally uploaded to the Pebbyls cloud. Clearing site data, resetting the browser profile, private-browsing restrictions, or losing the device can remove local content.

When you create or sign in to an account, eligible content is stored in your private cloud account and synchronized according to your plan. Free accounts support up to 50 total Notes, Journal, and Quotes entries on one active synced device. You may switch the active device. Premium supports unlimited entries and synced devices and may include cloud photo backup, personalization sync, and cloud export.

Reaching a Free limit does not cause Pebbyls to delete existing writing. Existing cloud entries remain readable and editable; additional entries remain stored locally unless space becomes available or the account is upgraded.

3. How we use information

Provide local saving, account access, cloud synchronization, backup, and subscription features.
Authenticate users, prevent abuse, investigate errors, and protect the service.
Process subscription purchases, renewals, cancellations, and billing support.
Communicate service, security, account, and billing information.
Understand site reliability and improve the product.
Comply with law and enforce the Terms of Service.

4. Service providers and disclosure

Pebbyls uses service providers to operate the app, including Supabase for database, authentication, storage, and realtime features; Stripe for subscription billing; and Vercel for hosting and site analytics. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect users or the service, investigate fraud or abuse, or complete a business transfer. Pebbyls does not sell your notebook content or use it for advertising.

5. Retention and deletion

Local content remains in your browser until you delete it, clear site data, or the browser removes it. Cloud account information and content are kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period needed for backup, security, legal, or billing purposes. Stripe may retain payment records as required by financial and legal obligations.

You can delete individual entries or use the in-app account deletion control. Account deletion is intended to remove your Pebbyls authentication account and associated cloud content, subject to limited records we or our providers must retain for legal, fraud-prevention, dispute, or accounting purposes.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including authenticated access controls and database security policies. No online service or storage system can guarantee absolute security. Keep your password and devices secure and maintain an independent export of irreplaceable writing.

7. Children

Pebbyls is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 may not create an account. If you believe a child provided personal information in violation of this policy, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

8. Your choices and rights

You may use local mode without an account, update available profile settings, export available data, manage or cancel Premium through Stripe’s customer portal, and delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of personal information, or to object to certain processing.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Pebbyls changes. The effective date above will be updated when a revised policy is posted. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or by email when appropriate.
